Why AeroGland™
Designed & Built in Australia
Campermade creates durable, functional hardware designed to solve real problems faced by van owners, installers, and manufacturers.
Every product is engineered for reliability, clean installation, and long-term outdoor use.
Tested for Real-World Van Use
AeroGland has been developed and refined through hands-on testing representative of real campervan and RV roof conditions.
This includes extensive water-exposure testing, simulating prolonged rain and outdoor exposure on vehicle roofs.
We focus on performance that matters in practice — rain, wash-down, vibration, and extended outdoor exposure over time.
Complete Your Install
Secure and route your solar wiring cleanly using UV-stable cable clips designed to cradle the cables for permanent outdoor use.
Why Van Roofs Are Different
Campervans, motorhomes, and caravans operate in an environment that many cable entry products are not specifically designed around.
Unlike buildings or fixed enclosures, van roofs experience constant vibration, repeated heat cycling, prolonged UV exposure, and ongoing cable movement — often for years without inspection.
Over time, these combined stresses place very different demands on seals, materials, and cable support than static installations.
AeroGland was developed by starting with these van-life conditions first.
Where Generic Cable Glands Reach Their Limits
Generic cable glands are designed to work across a wide range of applications — electrical enclosures, sheds, machinery, and short-term installations. In many of those environments, they perform exactly as intended.
On campervans and RVs, however, we consistently see different long-term stress patterns emerge.
- UV exposure can harden lower-grade plastics over time, reducing seal compliance
- Vibration and thermal cycling can gradually unload seal compression
- Cable movement and off-axis strain introduce forces not assumed in static designs
These are not defects — they are limitations of designs that were never optimised specifically for long-term van roof use.
Designed for Van-Life Conditions
AeroGland was developed by starting with the realities of campervan, motorhome, and caravan roofs — not by adapting a generic cable gland from another application.
Key design considerations included:
- Constant vibration from road travel
- Thermal cycling between hot roof surfaces and cooler nights
- Long-term UV exposure without regular maintenance
- Cable movement and off-axis strain from roof-mounted accessories
- Thin, curved roof panels common to vans and RVs
- Ongoing cable movement rather than assuming a fixed, static entry
To support this, the included cable clips were designed to cradle and guide cables along the roof, reducing point loading and movement at the entry point rather than simply restraining the cable.
Rather than optimising for a single extreme condition, AeroGland balances these forces to provide reliable, repeatable performance in real-world van use.
What Those Design Choices Mean in Practice
Designing for van-life conditions isn’t about a single feature — it’s about how the system behaves over time once the vehicle is on the road.
In practice, AeroGland is intended to:
- Maintain seal contact over time, even as vibration and thermal cycling load and unload the roof
- Reduce stress concentration at the cable entry, rather than allowing movement to focus at a single point
- Support controlled cable movement along the roof, using cradling clips instead of rigid restraint
- Remain stable on thin, curved roof panels, without relying on excessive seal compression
- Age predictably under sun exposure, rather than becoming brittle or unstable
These outcomes are the result of designing the gland, seal, and cable management as a single system — not independent parts.
Material – ASA (Outdoor-Grade)
ASA is specifically chosen for permanent outdoor use.
Unlike common plastics, it resists UV exposure, heat, and weathering — making it ideal for roof-mounted components like cable glands and clips.
- UV stable for long-term sun exposure
- Heat resistant for roof installation
- Designed for permanent outdoor use
- Won’t go brittle like common plastics
Simple, Clean Installation
AeroGland is designed for straightforward installation using common tools and sealants.
A step-by-step installation guide is included to ensure a clean, reliable result.
- Drill the roof entry
- Seal and position the gland
- Secure and route cables
campermade designs practical campervan accessories focused on clean installs, long-term durability, and real-world use.
Each product is developed with function first — using materials chosen specifically for harsh outdoor environments.
Designed in Australia for people who expect their gear to last.
